Colombia: Industrial production slows in September
November 18, 2010
In September, industrial production increased 2.8% over the same month last year, which came in below the 4.7% increase observed in August. The majority of industrial subsectors registered an increase in production, most notably chemicals and petroleum refining. The automotive sector, which had been adversely affected last year by Venezuela's decision to cut its import quota for Colombian automobiles, expanded 28.1% in annual terms. Despite the moderate growth, annual average growth in industrial production continued its upward trend, rising from 2.9% in August to 3.6% in September.
