Colombia: Industrial production slows in July
September 21, 2012
In July, industrial production (excluding coffee threshing) increased 1.5% over the same month last year. The figure was down from the 2.8% expansion observed in June and undershot market expectations of a 2.3% rise. The monthly figure reflected expansions in 26 out of the 48 sub-sectors composing the index, with production of vehicles, beverages as well as steel and iron recording the largest gains. As a result of the weaker growth in July, the trend continues to point downwards, with annual average variation in industrial production falling from 3.2% in June to 2.9% in July.
