Chile: Business confidence improves in January
March 1, 2012
In January, the business confidence index (IMCE, Indicador Mensual de Confianza Empresarial) published by Icare and the Universidad Adolfo Ibanez rose to 59.5 points from 54.8 points in December. With the monthly increase, the index moved further above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism. The stronger reading was broad-based, all sub-categories improved over the previous month, especially commerce and mining, which registered notable gains. Improving business confidence suggests a positive outlook for investment going forward.
