Brazil: Industrial output falls in November

In November, industrial production declined a seasonally adjusted 0.6% over the previous month. The decrease contrasted the 0.1% increase observed in October but undershot the 0.9% contraction expected by the market. In annual terms, industrial output fell 1.0% in November (October: +2.5% year-on-year).
16 out of the 27 categories surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) registered a decrease in output. The largest falls were observed in durable goods as well as in intermediate goods.
Despite the annual decline in November, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from minus 2.7% in October to minus 2.6%.
