Australia: Business sentiment inches up in January
February 12, 2013
In January, the business sentiment index published by the National Australian Bank (NAB) inched up to 3.0 points from the revised 2.0 points seen in December (previously reported: +3.0 points). With the January increase, sentiment moved further above the 0-point threshold that separates positive from negative opinion and reached its highest level in six months.
Sentiment improved in mining and wholesale, while it deteriorated in all other industries. Finance/business/property was the sector showing the highest confidence level, whereas sentiment was lowest in wholesale.
