Argentina: October exports accelerate
November 22, 2011
In October, exports rose 27.9% over the same month last year, which was above the 25.0% expansion in September and marked the 19th consecutive month of double-digit growth. A month-on-month comparison, though, painted a more subdued picture compared to the annual figures, as exports expanded a meagre 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis, in line with the result recorded in September. Imports, meanwhile, grew 27.4% annually in October, down from the 29.2% expansion registered in September. As a result of stronger exports, the trade surplus expanded from USD 1.1 billion in September to USD 1.2 billion in October, marking the largest surplus seen since May this year.
