Argentina: Economic activity moderates further in September
November 16, 2012
In September, the monthly indicator for economic activity (EMAE, Estimador Mensual de Actividad Economica) expanded 0.2% over the same month last year. The figure was below the 1.4% increase seen in August, but marked the third rise in a row following two consecutive negative readings. On a monthly basis, the economy expanded a seasonally adjusted 0.25% over the previous month, which represents an improvement compared to the 0.10% increase seen in August. Nevertheless, as a result of the subdued annual expansion, the trend deteriorated, with the annual average growth in economic activity dropping from 4.1% in August to 3.4% in September.
