GDP per capita in Georgia
Georgia - GDP per capita (U.S. Dollars)The economy seems to have gathered momentum in the third quarter, after growth eased in the second quarter on sharp contractions in the construction and manufacturing sectors. Although economic activity growth softened again in September, the third-quarter average was well above that of Q2, buoyed by upbeat dynamics in the trade, communication and hospitality industries. Moreover, electronic card payments in the services sector picked up in Q3 as did remittance inflows, which surged in September, boding well for household spending. Meanwhile, earlier this month, the IMF completed its fifth review of the country’s reform program under the Extended Fund Facility arrangement. If approved by the lender’s board, it would extend the program by one year and unlock additional funding of around USD 41.5 million.
