Imports in Bulgaria
Bulgaria - Imports (billions of Euros)Economic activity slowed considerably in the third quarter, according to an advanced estimate, with growth tumbling in annual terms after Q2’s strong rebound. With a less favorable base effect weighing on figures, the slowdown was broad-based across all sections of the economy: Private and public consumption growth ebbed lower in the quarter, while capital spending contracted at a faster rate than in Q2. Turning to Q4, a tightening of restrictions, following a record-high spike in Covid-19 cases in late October, is likely weighing on activity. In politics, elections on 14 November—the third such vote this year—resulted in a victory for the Continuing the Change (PP) party. The political newcomers won over a quarter of the votes, and will start talks to form a government. In a separate presidential ballot, incumbent Rumen Radev retained his position after a run-off election on 21 November.
