Consumption in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina - ConsumptionThe economy should have performed well in the second quarter amid the gradual relaxation of movement restrictions. Industrial output growth picked up notable steam and merchandise exports increased robustly on average in the period. Moving forward, early data for the third quarter suggests that momentum has cooled somewhat, but remained solid nonetheless. In July, industrial output expanded at a healthy pace, albeit softer than in Q2, while growth in merchandise exports moderated but remained strong. On the other hand, authorities kept some Covid-19 restrictions in place through July and August, which will have weighed on activity in the quarter to an extent. In other news, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development recently approved a loan of up to EUR 5 million for the country’s Sparkasse Bank, in order to boost SME lending.
