In July, consumer prices rose 0.23% over the previous month, which followed the 0.30% increase recorded in June. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, July’s increase mainly resulted from higher prices for food and foodstuff as well as for housing and construction materials.
Annual inflation inched down from 5.0% in June to 4.9% in July. Inflation remains below the Central Bank’s target of 7.0% for 2014. Annual average inflation inched down from 5.6% in June to 5.4% in July and now sits at the lowest level since August 2004.
