Vietnam: Inflation falls in March

In March, consumer prices decreased 0.19% over the previous month, which contrasted the 1.33% increase recorded in February. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, the decline was mainly driven by lower prices for food and foodstuff.
Building on the monthly price fall, annual inflation edged down from 7.0% in February to 6.7% in March. In addition, annual average inflation fell from 7.6% in February to 7.0%, the lowest level since July 2010.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect headline inflation to average 8.1% in 2013, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month's forecast. According to the panel, average inflation will accelerate to 8.2% in 2014.
