Vietnam: Inflation drops to lowest level in almost three years

July 24, 2012

In July, consumer prices dropped 0.29% over the previous month, which was a tad below the 0.26% fall recorded in June and marked a second consecutive decrease. The reading was driven by lower prices for transport as well as for housing and construction materials. As a result of the monthly drop, annual inflation dropped from 6.9% in June to 5.4% in July, which marked the lowest rate since November 2009. Accordingly, annual average inflation fell from 16.4% in June to 14.9% in July.
