Vietnam: June sees a fairly broad-based rise in industrial production growth
June 29, 2017
Industrial production in June rose 8.6% over the same month last year, up from a 7.2% rise in May. Surveying the sub-components of the index shows that the increase was fairly broad based. A notable acceleration in manufacturing, along with output expansions in electricity and gas, and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities drove the positive result. An increase in production in these sectors offset yet another contraction in mining and quarrying output.
In month-on-month terms, industrial production expanded 0.4% in June, a considerable drop from May’s 1.7% rise. Meanwhile, the annual average growth of industrial production was stable at 7.4%.
