Vietnam: Industrial production slows in August
August 28, 2013
In August, industrial output expanded 4.4% over the same month last year, which came below the 7.0% increase observed in July. The deceleration was driven by a sharp contraction in mining and quarrying, which partially offset healthy growth in the manufacturing sector.
Industrial production added 2.1% over the previous month, which was below the 3.4% increase recorded in July. Annual average growth in industrial production remained unchanged at July's 6.3%.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 5.6% this year, which is unchanged from last month's forecast. For 2014, panellists expect industrial production to expand 6.9%.
