Vietnam: Industrial production loses steam in August
August 26, 2012
In August, industrial output expanded 4.4% over the same month last year, which was below the 6.1% increase observed in July. The slowdown was broad-based, as growth in all main sub-sectors decelerated over the previous month, with the exception of water supply and waste management, which maintained the pace compared to the previous month. A month-on-month comparison, however, does not corroborate the moderation suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded a seasonally adjusted 4.1% over the previous month, which was above the 3.2% increase recorded in July.
