Vietnam: Industrial production accelerates in November
November 29, 2012
In November, industrial output expanded 6.7% over the same month last year, which was above the 5.7% increase observed in October. The improvement was driven by a rebound in mining and quarrying (October: -1.2% yoy; November: +0.7% year-on-year) and faster growth in manufacturing (October: +6.9% yoy; November: +8.1% yoy). In contrast, electricity, gas and water as well as water supply and waste management slowed compared to the previous month. A month-on-month comparison, however, does not corroborate the acceleration suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded 4.8% over the previous month, which was below the 5.8% increase recorded in October.
