Vietnam: Industrial production accelerates in April
April 25, 2012
In April, industrial production grew 7.5% over the same month last year, up from the 6.5% increase recorded in March. The reading reflected an acceleration in manufacturing along with a rebound in mining and quarrying, which recovered from a contraction in March. In contrast, electricity, gas and water supply grew at a slower pace compared to the previous month. A month-on-month comparison does not corroborate the improvement suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded a seasonally adjusted 1.5% over the previous month, which was well below the 10.2% rise experienced in March.
