Vietnam: Growth in industrial production slows in December

January 5, 2015

In December, industrial output rose 9.6% over the same month last year, which was down from the 11.1% rise recorded in the previous month. December’s result came on the back of a slowdown in the mining and quarrying as well as the electricity, gas, and water sectors.

Industrial production in December rose 4.6% over the previous month, which was slightly down from the 5.3% rise seen in November. Annual average growth in industrial production rose from 7.4% in November to 7.6% in December, and now sits at the highest level since January 2013.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 7.3% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect that industrial production will expand 9.3%.
