Vietnam: Growth in industrial production inches up in September

In September, industrial output rose 10.1% over the same month last year, which marked a slight acceleration over the 9.9% increase recorded in the previous month. The increase was broad-based as all components of the index registered expansions over the previous month, with the electricity, gas and water component showing the strongest growth for the second month in a row.

Industrial production in September rose 1.8% over the previous month, which contrasted the 1.3% decrease observed in the previous month. As a result, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 10.0% in August to a record-breaking 10.1% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 8.0% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect that industrial production will expand 7.9%.
