Vietnam: Growth in industrial production inches up in April

In April, industrial output rose 9.4% over the same month last year, which marked a slight acceleration compared to the 9.1% increase recorded in the previous month. April’s reading represented a three-month high. Manufacturing, as well as electricity, gas and water, accelerated over the previous month, while growth in mining as well as in water supply and waste management slowed.

Industrial production in April increased 9.5% over the previous month, which was significantly below the 25.8% rise seen in March. Annual average growth in industrial production rose from 8.5% in March to 8.8% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 8.0% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect that industrial production will expand 7.9%.
