Uruguay: Industrial production rebounds in September

November 12, 2014

In September, industrial production soared 11.2% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 0.8% contraction tallied in August.

Excluding the contribution of the La Teja refinery—the country’s only oil refinery and a key contributor to overall production—industrial output expanded 13.3% year-on-year in September, which greatly exceeded the mild 0.4% increase recorded in August. As a result of the strong rebound in September, the annual average variation in industrial output swung from August’s minus 0.4% to plus 0.9% in September.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 1.8% this year, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth at 4.2%, which is also unchanged from last month’s Consensus.
