Uruguay: Industrial production decelerates at the end of 2012

In December, industrial production expanded 9.7% over the same month the previous year, which was, nonetheless, down from the 18.5% increase recorded in November. The slowdown was driven, in particular, by a fall in the production of vehicles.
Excluding the La Teja refinery's contribution, industrial output contracted 5.8%, which contrasted the 2.0% rise recorded in the previous month and represents the lowest reading since May 2009.
Overall in 2012, industrial production increased 5.8% over the previous year, which came in well above the meagre 0.5% rise recorded in 2011.
