United Kingdom: Industry improves in June

In June, industrial production expanded 0.1% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted the 0.6% decrease seen in May—a five-month low. The monthly acceleration reflected improvements in all sub-sectors. Mining and quarrying swung from a 0.5% contraction in May to a 1.2% expansion in June. Moreover, the manufacturing sector contracted 0.3%, which was up from the 0.6% decrease seen in May.
Industrial production expanded 1.6% over the same month last year in June, which was up from the 1.4% increase seen in May. Annual average growth in industrial production was stable at the previous month’s 1.1% increase June.
