United Kingdom: Consumer sentiment unchanged in February
February 29, 2012
In February, the consumer confidence index elaborated by GfK NOP was unchanged from the previous month at minus 29 points. The reading represented the highest level since June 2011. According to GFK NOP, ?February's figures suggest this current increase is built on sturdier foundations than the short-term spike we saw last year?. Three out of the five sub-components improved from last month. In particular, respondents had a more optimistic assessment regarding both the general economic situation as well as their own personal financial situation over the next 12 months. In contrast, the willingness to make major purchases and the assessment of the economic situation over the last 12 months declined.
