United Kingdom: Consumer confidence stable in November

In November, the GfK NOP consumer confidence indicator was stable at October’s minus 2 points, thus staying at its lowest level since July.

November’s figure was driven by a deterioration in consumers’ expectations regarding the general economic situation over the next 12 months. In addition, consumers’ views on their personal financial situation over the next 12 months deteriorated compared to the previous month. However, their willingness to make major purchases recorded an improvement compared to October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 2.5% in 2014, which is down 0.1 percentage points over last month’s estimate. For 2015, the panel sees private consumption expanding 2.6%, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate.
