United Arab Emirates: Inflation ticks up in June

In June, consumer prices rose 0.46% over the previous month, which followed the 0.26% increase observed in May. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, transportation saw the largest monthly increase in prices in June, while miscellaneous goods and services registered the largest decrease.

Inflation inched up from 1.6% in May to 1.8% in June. Conversely, annual average inflation dropped from 3.2% in May to 3.0% in June, its lowest level since March 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.9% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points over last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees inflation increasing slightly to 3.0%.
