United Arab Emirates: Inflation ticks up in April

In April, consumer prices rose 0.38% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.11% decrease seen in March. The figure marks the first increase in four months. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, transportation was the component that observed the largest monthly increase in prices in April, while recreation and culture and furniture and households goods saw the most substantial decrease.

Inflation inched up from 1.4% in March to 1.6% in April. Annual average inflation dropped from 3.6% in March to 3.4% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 3.9% in 2016, which is unchanged over last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees inflation easing to 3.4%.
