United Arab Emirates: Inflation stabilizes in July

In July, consumer prices rose 0.29% over the previous month, which came in below the 0.46% increase observed in June. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, food and soft drinks saw the largest monthly increase in prices in July, followed by transportation. Conversely, textiles, clothing and footwear registered the largest decrease.

Inflation was stable at June’s 1.8% in July, while annual average inflation dropped from 3.0% in June to 2.8% in July, the lowest level since February 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees inflation increasing slightly to 3.1%.
