United Arab Emirates: Inflation picks up again in November

February 2, 2017

In November, consumer prices in the United Arab Emirates increased 0.33% from the previous month, up from October’s 0.05% rise. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, November’s rise was driven by higher prices in the furniture and household goods, transportation and food and soft drinks sub-sectors, while the recreation and culture sub-sector was the only one to suffer a significant price drop.

Inflation rose from 1.9% in October to 2.6% in November, the highest figure in 11 months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.5% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2018, the panel sees inflation increasing slightly to 3.1%.
