United Arab Emirates: Inflation increases further in August

In August, consumer prices rose 0.92% over the previous month, which followed the 0.29% increase observed in July. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, August’s figure mainly reflected higher prices for housing, food and soft drinks as well as for transportation.
Inflation increased from July’s 4.4% to 4.9% in August, thus marking the highest rate since February 2009. In addition, annual average inflation increased from 3.6% in July to 3.8% in August, marking the highest rate on record.
