United Arab Emirates: Inflation edges up in October

In October, consumer prices in the UAE increased 0.05% from the previous month, down from September’s 1.11% increase. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, prices for medical care increased the most in October, followed by education. Conversely, transportation registered the largest decrease.

Inflation edged up from September’s 1.4% to 1.9% in October, while annual average inflation dropped from 2.2% in September to 2.0% in October, the lowest level since September 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.4% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees inflation increasing slightly to 2.9%.
