United Arab Emirates: Inflation eases in February

In February, consumer prices fell 0.24% over the previous month, which followed the 0.33% decrease observed in January. The figure is the second monthly decline in a row, and fourth decrease in the past five months. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, transportation was the component that observed the largest monthly fall in prices in February.

Inflation inched down from 2.5% in January to 2.2% in February. Annual average inflation also fell slightly, from 4.0% in January to 3.9% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 3.9% in 2016, which is unchanged over last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees inflation easing to 3.4%.
