Ukraine: Inflation rises to over one-year high in July

August 14, 2017

In August, consumer prices fell 0.1% from the previous month, which contrasted July’s 0.2% increase. August’s fall was largely driven by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Inflation rose from July’s 15.9% to 16.2% in August, the highest reading since March 2016. Annual average inflation followed suit, rising from 12.7% in July to 13.3% in August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2017 at 10.9%, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees inflation easing to 7.8%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast.
