Ukraine Inflation October 2016

Ukraine: Inflation rises in October

November 9, 2016

In October, Ukrainian consumer prices rose 2.8% from the previous month, which followed September’s 1.8% increase. The result marked a six-month high.

Inflation rose from 7.9% in September to 12.4% in October, which was the highest result since March. The acceleration in price growth is due to adjustments in gas prices. Annual average inflation continued to ease, falling from 23.2% in September to 20.4%, the lowest result since February 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2016 at 11.0%, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees inflation easing to 8.4%, which is unchanged from the previous month’s estimate.
