Ukraine Inflation March 2018

Ukraine: Inflation rises in March

April 11, 2018

Consumer prices rose 1.1% from the previous month in March, up from the 0.9% increase recorded in February. The increase was driven by higher prices for clothing and footwear, which was partially offset by lower price pressures for transport costs.

Inflation fell to 13.2% in March from 14.0% in February. It remained elevated on the back of strong consumer spending and higher prices for food and energy. Annual average inflation dipped to 14.4% in March from 14.6% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2018 at 9.5%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, the panel sees year-end inflation easing to 7.9%.
