Ukraine: Inflation rises in February

Consumer prices increased 0.64% in February over the previous month, a bigger increase than the stable reading logged in January. Looking at the details of the release, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco and transport increased at a faster pace.

Inflation rose to 10.7% in February, from January’s 10.0%.. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 9.9% in February (January: 9.7%). Lastly, core inflation rose to 8.2% from the previous month’s 7.6%.

However, the data mainly reflected a time period prior to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on 24 February, which will undoubtedly affect inflation going forward.
