Ukraine: Inflation recedes in April

May 10, 2017

In April, consumer prices rose 0.9% from the previous month, which was below March’s 1.8% increase. April’s reading was driven by a more muted increase in prices for housing, electricity, gas and other fuels, compared to the previous month.

Inflation edged down from March’s 12-month high of 15.1% to 12.2%. Annual average inflation continued to ease, falling from 10.6% in March to 10.8%, the lowest result since November 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2017 at 9.6%, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees inflation easing to 7.4%.
