Ukraine: Inflation drops to over-two-year low

Consumer prices fell 0.2% in June over the previous month, which contrasted May’s 0.1% increase. June’s result marked a four-month low.

Inflation continued its downward trajectory in June and fell from May’s 7.5% to 6.9%. The result marked the lowest reading since April 2014. Inflation in Ukraine has fallen rapidly in recent months after skyrocketing last year amid a drastic depreciation in the currency. Annual average inflation eased in June from 38.8% in May to 34.5%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2016 at 12.3%, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees inflation easing to 8.9%.
