Ukraine: Consumer prices remain unchanged in April
May 7, 2013
In April, consumer prices remained unchanged over the previous month, mirroring the reading observed in March. The monthly print mainly reflects lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for clothing and footwear, which offset higher prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
On a year-on-year basis, consumer prices dropped 0.8% in April, following a fall of the same magnitude in March. As a result, annual average inflation stepped down from minus 0.3% in March to minus 0.4% in April.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect inflation to reach 7.3% in 2013, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month's forecast. For next year, the panel sees inflation moderating to 6.3%.
