Ukraine: Industrial production remains flat in April
May 23, 2012
In April, industrial production was flat over the same month last year, after contracting 1.1% in March, which had represented the worst reading since October 2009. The improvement was mainly driven by a softer decline in manufacturing output, while the mining category recorded fewer gains in annual terms. On the other hand, production and distribution of electricity and natural gas deteriorated markedly over the previous month. Despite the improved monthly reading, the trend continued to point downwards, with annual average growth in industrial production falling further from 5.4% in March to 4.9% in April.
