Ukraine: Industrial production decelerates
October 17, 2011
In September, industrial production grew 6.4% over the same month last year, which came in well below the robust 9.6% expansion recorded in August. The moderation was mostly the result of slower growth in manufacturing, which stepped down from an 11.0% expansion in August to a 6.5% increase in September. Furthermore, the production and distribution of electricity, natural gas and water slowed compared to the previous month, whereas growth in the mining sector picked up. Owing to the subdued reading, annual average industrial output growth dropped from 9.4% in August to 9.1% in September.
