Ukraine: Industrial output loses steam in November

December 26, 2017

According to data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, industrial activity expanded 0.3% in November over the same month of 2016, slightly below October’s 0.4% growth. Falling mining and quarrying output along with declining electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply weighed on the result. However, manufacturing output expanded solidly.

Sequential data confirmed a weakening in industrial activity, with output rising a seasonally-adjusted 0.3% from the previous month in November, below October’s robust 6.9% increase. Annual average growth in industrial output fell October’s 0.4% to 0.1% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants project that industrial output will grow 3.2% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists expect industrial production to rise 3.7%.
