Turkey: Industrial production growth slows in February

Industrial production in Turkey increased by a calendar-adjusted 1.0% in February compared to the same month last year, below January’s eight-month high of 2.6%. According to the Statistical Institute, the slowdown was due to more moderate growth in the manufacturing sector, while energy production picked up pace.

Industrial production decreased by 0.4% in seasonally- and calendar-adjusted month-on-month terms in February, contrasting January’s 1.3% increase. Annual average growth in industrial output decreased from 1.7% in January to 1.3% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to rise 2.5% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel sees industrial output increasing 2.9% in 2018.
