Turkey Business Confidence August 2019

Turkey: Business sentiment improves in August

August 26, 2019

The business confidence index recovered in August, rising to 102.5 from 98.3 in July. August’s more upbeat sentiment was broad-based across the sub-indices. Businesses were less pessimistic about export orders, production and employment for the next three months.

Meanwhile, inflation expectations eased for the third month running in August. That said, inflation expectations remained elevated, likely influenced by the ongoing weakness in the lira.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to contract 8.9% in 2019, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and to expand 2.5% in 2020.
