Turkey: Business confidence rebounds at the outset of the year

January 25, 2013

The Real Sector Confidence Index published by the Central Bank improved for the first time in nine months in January, rising from 97.9 points in December to 102.1 points. As a result, the index now sits above the 100-point threshold that separates optimistic from pessimistic territory after dipping below 100 points in December. At the current level, business sentiment is 0.3 points above the levels observed in the same month last year.

The improvement in business confidence mainly reflected a more positive assessment regarding the volume of output for the next three months as well as export orders for the next three months.
