Thailand: Manufacturing deteriorates in November

December 30, 2014

In November, manufacturing production fell 3.5% over the same month last year, which was down from the 3.0% decrease recorded in October. November’s reading marked the 19th consecutive drop in manufacturing output. The decline was mainly driven by falling output in the manufacturing of electronics as well as in the manufacturing of refined petroleum products.

On a monthly basis, manufacturing output rose 1.2% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which was slightly below the 1.9% increase recorded in October. In addition, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from minus 5.6% in October to minus 5.0% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecasts panelists expect manufacturing to expand 1.8% in 2015, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel expects manufacturing to expand 6.1%.
