Spain: Industrial production picks up pace in May

In May, industrial production rose 3.4% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, which was above the revised 1.7% increase tallied in April (previously reported: +1.8% year-on-year). The print mainly reflected an acceleration in the production of capital and intermediate goods as well as of energy. In addition, production of capital goods improved compared to the previous month.

Annual average variation of industrial production inched up from 1.1% in April to 1.2% in May.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production expanding 2.0% in 2015, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.1%.
