Spain: Industrial production growth inches up in November

In November, industrial production rose 4.2% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, which was above the revised 4.1% increase tallied in October (previously reported: +4.0% year-on-year). The print reflected a slight pick-up in intermediate good production. As a result of November’s figure, annual average variation of industrial production continued to rise, increasing from 2.6% in October to 2.9%, which marked the best result since September 2007.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in November recorded zero growth. The reading was slightly below October’s 0.2% increase in working-day adjusted terms.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production expanding 3.3% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.0%.
