Spain: Growth in industrial production remains weak in June

In June, industrial production rose 0.8% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, which was just below the revised 0.9% increase tallied in May (previously reported: +1.0% year-on-year). The print reflected a deceleration in the production of intermediate and capital goods. Annual average variation of industrial production edged down from 3.4% in May to 3.1% in June.

On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 1.0% in working-day adjusted terms in June. The reading was down from the 3.9% increase tallied in the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production expanding 2.8% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output growth at 2.6%.
